49ers receiver duo threatened with being traded before the start of the season

Could the San Francisco 49ers complete a transfer in the near future?

San Francisco will begin its new season in just two weeks, but before then, it will need to make some roster changes. The 49ers will have to make some tough decisions soon, and Logan Ulrich of NFL Trade Rumors mentioned receivers Danny Gray and Ronnie Bell as possible players on the transfer list.

“49ers WR Danny Gray, (Miami Dolphins) WR Erik Ezukanma, (Baltimore Ravens) WR Malik Cunningham, 49ers WR Ronnie Bell, (New York Giants) WR Isaiah Hodgins, (and) (Tennessee Titans) WR Kyle Phillips,” Ulrich said. “Bell has exceeded expectations so far as a seventh-round pick, coming in as a rookie last year, playing all 17 games and scoring three touchdowns. But the 49ers just have too many receivers, especially if they end up holding on to Aiyuk. Bell has experience on special teams and just does a lot of things at a solid level.

“Hodgins had a nice late-season run in 2022 but faded into obscurity last year and appears to be an underdog. A team looking for a possession wideout could be interested, even if he's just on the waivers list.”

Most of the 49ers trade rumors this summer have rightfully centered around receiver Brandon Aiyuk. There's still a chance he could be traded, but he's not the only player the 49ers will have to make a difficult decision about.

Keep a close eye on the 49ers over the next two weeks as the team begins to trim down its roster.
