San Francisco Giants star defends agents after recent attacks

The San Francisco Giants star had to come to his agent's aid after another player spoke out against him.

Arizona Diamondbacks left-hander Jordan Montgomery recently commented on his contract situation last season, which is very similar to that of Giants pitcher Blake Snell.

Both are clients of Scott Boras who ultimately received essentially one-year contracts instead of a longer, more secure contract.

Montgomery spoke out against Boras, whom he had removed from his mandate earlier this season, and was not very happy with the way things turned out.

“I had a Zoom call with [the Boston Red Sox]that's really all I know. It went well,” the pitcher said, according to Mac Cerullo of Boston-Herald“I don't know, obviously Boras messed it up somehow, so I'm just trying to put the offseason behind me and forget about it.”

It's been a nightmare season for the 31-year-old following his World Series victory. He has an ERA of 6.44 in 19 starts and shows no signs of finding his way into the season.

Snell also signed his contract with San Francisco very late, but had a different opinion about working with Boras last season when he was working with Andrew Baggarly from The athlete.

“I saw how [Montgomery has] “He had problems, but he signed the contract he ultimately wanted to sign,” the Giants' left-hander said. “He has a choice. I don't know what other contracts he was offered, but I know everything I was offered. It's just sad that he thinks that way when I consider Scott a very honorable man.”

The reigning NL Cy Young had problems of his own at the beginning of the season. Because he signed so late, he didn't start the new year on time.

He had an 11.57 ERA in his first three games before going to the injured list. He got healthy again, got pressured again, then went back to the injured list. That happened one more time before he finally looked like the old Snell again.

Since his return in July, he has a 1.30 ERA in nine starts and even pitched his first career no-hitter.

Four current Giants are represented by Boras: Matt Chapman, Michael Conforto, Jung-hoo Lee and Snell.

Boras has a long history with San Francisco, so it's good that Snell has a good relationship with him if the team plans to re-sign their star.
