Rumer Willis has shared a rare update on her father Bruce Willis' health on Instagram as he battles frontotemporal dementia, a rare and aggressive form of dementia. The 36-year-old was doing an Instagram Q&A when asked about her father.

“He's amazing,” Rumer replied, sharing a snap of herself holding her father's hand. “I love him so much. Thank you.”

In March 2022, the Die Hard star's family announced to fans that he had been diagnosed with aphasia and would be retiring from acting. However, in February last year, it was announced that the disease had progressed to frontotemporal dementia (FTD), a common form of incurable dementia that causes changes in behavior, personality, speech and movement.

Bruce has a very close family, including his ex-wife Demi Moore, who supported him and his current wife Emma Heming Willis when his health deteriorated. He is the father of five daughters – Rumer, 36; Scout, 33; Tallulah, 30, whom he has with Demi; and Mabel, 12; and Evelyn, 10, whom he has with Emma.

Rumer last gave an update on her father's health during an appearance on the Today Show in May.

“He's so good. I actually saw him just before I came out [to New York],” she said.

She also shared that her daughter Louetta, one year old, has a “sweet” relationship with her grandfather, saying: “And Lou is just starting to walk a little bit and she walked over to him and it was so sweet.”

During the Q&A on Instagram, Rumer also revealed that she is no longer with Louetta's father, Derek Richard Thomas, and confirmed: “I am a single mother and we share parenting responsibilities.”

“I am so grateful for Lou. She is the best thing in my life and I am forever grateful that I had the time in this relationship to let her into my life,” she added.
