Popular quarterback returns as Washington Commanders announce first practice squad roster

As much as we enjoyed Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels' performance during training camp and the preseason, his relationship with fellow rookie Sam Hartman was equally entertaining.

You often see the two of them “shooting baskets” before and after training – there is no real basket, but a basketball – and of course there is no getting around trash talk between the two Commanders quarterbacks.

Although they are the two newest members of the group, the quality of the quarterbacks in Washington at the moment is partly due to the newcomers.

But Hartman's waivers in Tuesday's roster cuts put that chemistry in jeopardy. After passing waivers, however, the undrafted Notre Dame quarterback is back on the practice squad.

“Sam was great,” offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury said of the quarterback. “Great personality, a fighter, everywhere he went he was a winner.”

For now, Hartman has earned a spot on an NFL practice squad. Here are the others joining him, according to the Commanders.
