Five terrorists hiding in a mosque were killed on Thursday during a joint counter-terror operation by the Israel Defense Forces, the ISA and the Israel Border Police in Tulkarm, the Israeli army said. Other terrorists were arrested.
One of the terrorists killed was Muhhamad Jabber, “Abu Shujaa,” the head of a terror network in Nur Shams who was involved in the shooting attack that led to the killing of Israeli civilian Amnon Mukhtar in June, the IDF added.
Israeli forces also arrested a wanted Islamic Jihad terrorist in a refugee camp in Tulkarm on Wednesday evening, Army Radio on X reported.
Muhammad Qassas is reportedly a senior terrorist in the Al-Quds Brigades of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad and was arrested while hiding in a mosque.
According to Palestinian reports, the IDF soldiers entered the refugee camp in civilian clothes and then entered the mosque. The army radio station and Arab media reported that a shootout took place between terrorists and the IDF, in which several terrorists were killed.
During the operation, a border police soldier was slightly injured and evacuated for further medical treatment.
The Israeli armed forces also discovered a laboratory for the production of explosives and a room for terrorist operations during a search of the Abu Bakr al-Siddiq mosque in the Jordan Valley, the Arab spokesman for the Israeli armed forces, Avichay Adraee, wrote on X early Thursday morning.
The laboratory was discovered during IDF counterterrorism activities in the Far'a camp in the Jordan Valley.

Terrorists used the mosque as a base for terrorist attacks against IDF forces, Adraee said.
IDF defuses immediate threat to civilians and soldiers
When searching the facility, the Israeli forces found explosive devices that they considered “too dangerous to use or even transport.”
“The IDF assessed the situation and perceived an imminent threat to IDF forces and civilians in the vicinity of the mosque. Therefore, it made the decision to immediately destroy the explosive devices,” the spokesman said.
The explosion did not cause any damage to the prayer hall, but a fire broke out. The fire was extinguished.
