The indie sandbox action simulator in which a squirrel is given a series of weapons to play with is out today. To celebrate, the team at Dee Dee Creations have set up some weapons in a backyard for real squirrels to play with.
Real squirrel with a real gun
The game, in which you play as a “disgusting rodent” and “develop a taste (and love?) for crime and mayhem while hunting for golden acorns,” has a good chance of becoming an indie hit. With a range of weapons including pistols, sniper rifles, grenade launchers, and a number of different outfits for your squirrel protagonist, the game is prime “brain-shutting” material.
Ahead of today's launch, the development team has set up a squirrel playground in YouTuber Backyard Buddies' backyard. Backyard Buddies usually streams the wildlife they see in their backyard; however, this time it's a little crazier. A sniper rifle has been set up in the main area, aimed at a large nut tower, which itself contains at least two smaller rifles. A revolver is aimed at the sniper, creating the possibility of a major squirrel war.
There is also a second area by the creek with a red sports convertible holding an assault rifle aimed at a bowl of nuts, ready to kill any unsuspecting squirrel brave enough to grab a snack.
This livestream could have also given the team at Dee Dee Creations ideas for a sequel to Squirrel with a Gun, because besides the squirrels, there were also chipmunks and birds with guns, which seems perfect for a sequel to me.
Although this is obviously a marketing ploy, it is effective and I will be sure to watch the antics of these squirrels throughout the day.
