Second teenager charged with murder of restaurant owner Shaun Brady

KANSAS CITY, Missouri – The Jackson County Juvenile Justice Department on Friday charged a second teenager with the murder of Irish chef Shaun Brady on Wednesday night.

He is charged with second-degree murder and attempted robbery, according to a Jackson County District Court spokesman.

The youth is in custody.

There must be a mandatory hearing to decide whether he will be tried as an adult.

Brady was shot and killed around 5:10 p.m. on Wednesday outside his popular restaurant, Brady & Fox, in Brookside.

According to police, he was attacked by at least two people who tried to break into or steal a car.

A 15-year-old boy was charged on Thursday with premeditated murder, attempted car theft and armed criminal action.

According to KSHB 41 reporter Ryan Gamboa, he was in family court on Friday along with his mother, father and siblings.

The juvenile's attorneys requested that the judge remand the juvenile to a lower security facility. The judge denied the defense's request, meaning the juvenile will remain in juvenile detention.

A hearing on his release is scheduled for September 25.

In the future, there will be a mandatory hearing to decide whether the juvenile will be charged in adult court.
