Hogwarts Legacy fans are heartbroken as Harry Potter game is quietly canceled

As life gives, so it also takes.

For fans of the magical world, it was a week full of ups and downs.

In case you missed it, there are not only days left until the launch of Harry Potter Quidditch ChampionOn September 3, it was also announced that PlayStation Plus subscribers can get the game completely free.

And also Hogwarts Legacy may also receive a long-awaited new phase in life.

I've never seen a major game go through such a boring period after release, but that could soon change.

After rumors about a director's cut emerged earlier this year, further evidence has now surfaced on the Internet.

Updated logos have reportedly been added to the game files on Steam.

With Back To Hogwarts Day on September 1st just a few days away, perhaps everything will be revealed soon.

But before that, fans of the magical world also had to endure a setback.

Harry Potter: The Magic Awakens will be officially closed in selected areas.

The game will be released in the Americas, Europe, and Oceania on October 29th of this year, so fans have just under two months left to enjoy the game.

Oddly enough, it will still be available to all “players in Asia, including mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, as well as other select territories in Asia and MENA.”

However, for the affected areas, the app has already been removed from the App Store and in-game purchases have been frozen.

“We would like to thank fans in America, Europe and Oceania for their commitment and are incredibly proud and honored that so many fans around the world Harry Potter: The Magic Awakens with so much enthusiasm and passion,” the statement continued.

This is already an annoying move, but to make matters worse, it has been confirmed that players will not be eligible for refunds for any in-game purchases made. All related social media channels will also be shut down.

“I wish they would at least finish the story before closing the servers. It's a shame, this game had a lot of potential,” wrote Reddit user IceGalahad.

“I'm really angry about all the wasted time, money and energy,” meebee3 added.

The live services market continues to be volatile and it is once again a shame that so many players are affected.
